Wings Review

The Book Summary- Very Vague
An extraordinary faerie tale of magic and mystery, romance and danger, described by Stephenie Meyer as 'a remarkable debut'. Laurel is an ordinary fifteen-year-old high school girl. But something incredible is happening to her. She is changing. Now Laurel is about to discover that a deep and powerful magic holds the key to her destiny.

Summary on Authors Website- More Descriptive
Laurel discovers she is a faerie, sent among humans to protect the gateway to Avalon. Thrust into the midst of a centuries-old battle between faeries and trolls, she's torn between a human and a faerie love, as well as her loyalties to each world. In this extraordinary tale of magic and intrigue, romance and danger, everything you thought you knew about faeries will be changed forever.

In The Beginging
At first I was having a little difficulties with this book. I was very confused on who and what Laurel was (I had only read the book summary on the flap and it doesn't give you much information), but I assumed very early on that she was a changeling. I also felt things were going too fast and I didn't feel like I was getting to know Laurel very well, it took me half way through the book to feel connected with Laurel.
For some reason I had issues with picturing her "wings", I just couldn't picture them, I think I just skimmed over the description too fast. So I decided to look for some fan art that might give me a better idea.
This is what I found
(Yes I have a much better idea of what they look like now)
Laurel and Tamani
Art by Holly not sure if the last name is Arnold (on the picture) or Faith (part of the tag name)
I found it in this Wings Forum

By The End
I was definitely more into the book by the last half of the book. The pieces of the puzzle were finally started to fit and make since.
This book has boy teams for sure, but I'm not sure yet who I like more.
Team David: Human, friendly, cute, science nerd who helps Laurel accept what she is, her confidant. Doesn't pressure Laurel into anything and is willing to be whatever she needs, be it friend or boyfriend. Got to love the good boy type.
Team Tamani: Faerie, green hair, mischievous, alluring, pushy and a little demanding. He has more of the bad boy type, which is wonderful. By the end he earns brownie points for showing her more of his nature and softer side.
These aren't your typical wing flying faeries. I am one of those readers who loves a different version of well known myths. Once I understood what these types of faeries were I thoroughly enjoyed the different concepts of their body type. I also liked how Avalon was tied into their history.

I read for faerie lovers who like completely different versions.

The series gets much more interesting in the second book. I think you'll be able to choose one of the two by that point. and there's a lot more action/adventure. By the third book, Illusions, you have to have picked sides.

I can't wait to see what think about Spells and Illusions.

And I love the fan art and the original titles you added above. I wonder what happened to Enticements... Unless that'll be the next book.

Yay, you finished it! This one is up next for me.

Are you going to read a book by all of the authors, or at least bring some for each one to sign? I'm trying! I still have a few to buy.

@Fiktshun I think I'm already leaning more towards Tamani, David is sweet and all, but she doesn't have much of a plausible future with him.

I'm wondering too if the last book will be Enticement.

@Jennifer I will have something for each author to sign beside Lisa Schreiber, I saw her at the last tour in WA and I got her to signing the 3 story collection of the vampire series and the Full Moon one.

I plan on buying Hereafter at B&N as my contribution to the store hosting the event.
