Mercy Review

Mercy

Summary
A fallen angel haunted by her past. Yearning for her immortal beloved. Forever searching for answers. Who will show her Mercy?

Mercy has lost herself. She can't count how many times she's 'woken up' in a new body, and assumed a new life, only to move on again and again. During the day she survives in the human world on instinct and at night her dreams are haunted by him. Mercy's heart would know him anywhere. But her memory refuses to cooperate

But this time is different. When Mercy wakes up she meets Ryan, an eighteen year old reeling from the loss of his twin sister who was kidnapped two years ago. Everyone else has given up hope, but Ryan believes his sister is still alive. Using a power she doesn't fully comprehend, Mercy realizes that Ryan is right. His sister is alive and together they can find her. For the first time since she can remember, Mercy has a purpose; she can help. So she doesn't understand why the man in her dreams cautions her not to interfere. But as Ryan and Mercy come closer to solving the dark mystery of his sister's disappearance, danger looms just one step behind.

Will Mercy be able to harness her true self and extraordinary power in time?

The first in a dazzling new series, Mercy masterfully weaves romance, mystery and the supernatural into a spell-binding tale.

What I Like
I liked the book, but I also have some issues with it. I want to read the rest of the series because it does leave you at a cliffhanger and I want to know who she is? What she has done to be punished? Who is Luc and what is he to her? I do like reading angel books, but you don't get really any information about it, so I can't wait till the later books when she discovers more about herself.

Why I'm Still Undecided
I need more background about the characters
Mercy wakes up confused and not knowing who she is or is suppose to be. I was just as confused as to what what going on in this book and I didn't start to understand till about 60 pages into it. Since Mercy doesn't know what is really going on and as the reader you don't get to know either, which is both frustrating and intriguing, but it does put you in a thinking puzzling state trying to figure things out as she learns them.
Lots of loose ends
Only one loose end was ever tied up in this book and that was about the sister she is trying to help Ryan find. Other than that, you are left with even more questions than answers. I immediately went to the computer to find out information about the series. I read the summaries of all the next books so I can get a better feel for the series.

Recommendation
What I think : definitely a series to read, but I would suggest waiting till you have more than one to read at a time.

Check out these places for the book
Amazon / Borders / B&NBook Depository

Information
It will be a four book series or trilogy? I'm finding 2 different answers
Mercy release May 17th
Exile June 9th 2011
Muse October 27th 2011
Book 4??
That is really all the information I could find, she doesn't have a blog or author site that I know of beside from Harper Collins Australia site.
If you find one please put the link in the comments, I would love to be able to find out more about this series.
Also you can find information on Mercy Facebook page

Hmm, I just saw this book today and this is the first review I've read on it so far. Sounds like an interesting book and one that is made to make you come back for the next book. Thank you for the review. :) I think I might like this series as well.

I know what you mean about the beginning. The first chapter I was totally confused and had to re-read it a few times. I stuck with it and after chapter three it started to pick up steam.

I love this author's writing, though, and I felt oddly connected to the story once I got past the beginning. I wish they had revealed more about Mercy. There wasn't much about her or what she was until closer to the end and they barely revealed her name.

The description completely helps things make sense. It even tells you what she is, which the book doesn't.

I'm curious to see if Hyperion changed it a bit to make it more palatable for an American audience as the version I have had the Britishisms and punctuation.

Thanks for the honest review! I hope the next books fill in the missing pieces.

Hhhhmmm. Well, it sounds pretty good, but I think I'll wait until more of the series is released before I read it. It looks like we don't have to wait too long for most of the books, so that's nice!

@fiktshun I'm definitely want to know more about what happens all the missing information that she still has yet to discover about herself make it all the more intriguing. I think they fixed it, I didn't have any issues with the stuff. Either that or if I do get confused I just tend to skip over it and get overview of things.

@Jennifer I'm glad they will be released within the year, I do want to know what happens in the rest of the story. Definitely put this on your to buy/read list.
